Artificial Intelligence Policy
At DJVS, we recognize that artificial intelligence (AI) tools can assist researchers in various stages of their work, from literature search to data analysis and language editing. However, to preserve academic integrity, transparency, and authorship accountability, the following policy governs the acceptable use of AI tools in manuscripts submitted to the journal.
1. Acceptable Use of AI Tools
Authors may use AI-based tools for specific, supportive tasks such as:
-
Grammar and language editing (e.g., spelling, grammar, or style correction)
-
Reference management assistance
-
Data analysis support, where clearly explained and validated
-
Image editing (for minor adjustments or formatting, not content creation)
Such use must not compromise the originality, integrity, or accuracy of the research.
2. Prohibited Use of AI Tools
The following uses of AI tools are strictly prohibited in submissions to DJVS:
-
Generating or fabricating research data or experimental results
-
Drafting entire sections of the manuscript (e.g., abstract, methods, results, discussion) using AI text generators without full human oversight
-
Creating or altering images, figures, or photographs in a way that could misrepresent the original findings
-
Submitting content where AI-generated material is presented as original human-authored work without disclosure
3. Disclosure Requirements
If AI tools have been used during manuscript preparation, authors must:
-
Clearly state the type of AI tool, its version, and purpose of use in the Acknowledgments section or Methods section (as appropriate).
-
Accept full responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of all content, regardless of AI assistance.
-
Ensure that any AI-assisted content adheres to DJVS’s publication ethics and does not introduce bias, inaccuracy, or ethical concerns.
Example of Disclosure Statement:
"Portions of this manuscript's language editing were assisted by [AI tool name, version]. All intellectual content and final decisions remain the responsibility of the authors."
4. Authorship and AI Tools
AI tools cannot be credited as authors. All listed authors must meet the authorship criteria outlined in DJVS’s Authorship Policy, including taking responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the work.
5. Peer Review and AI
-
Reviewers are prohibited from using AI tools to analyze or summarize confidential manuscript content during the peer review process.
-
Peer review reports must be the product of the reviewer’s own critical evaluation without the aid of AI-generated content.
6. Ethical Compliance
Any misuse of AI tools discovered before or after publication (e.g., undisclosed AI-generated data, results, or images) will be treated as a publication ethics violation and addressed according to DJVS’s Plagiarism Policy and COPE guidelines.
